Do You Need Qualifications to Be a Nail Tech in the UK?
Technically, there's no legal requirement to hold a qualification to do nails in the UK — but in reality, you absolutely need one if you want to be taken seriously and get insured.
Most insurance providers require you to hold a certificate from an accredited training provider before they'll cover you. That's why choosing an IAL-accredited course (International Approval Limited) matters so much. Your certificate will be recognised by insurers, giving you the confidence to start working with paying clients straight away.
Can You Train Online?
Yes — and it's a fantastic option if you have children, work around other commitments, or simply prefer to learn at your own pace.
Online nail courses cover all the theory you need — health and safety, anatomy, consultation skills, contraindications, aftercare and more. You then practice your practical techniques in your own time, complete your case studies, and submit your theory assessment to receive your certificate.
